Joseph Edward Barzynski Brigadier General, United States Army

Joseph Edward Barzynski was born at St Paul, Nebraska, March 13, 1884. He greaduated from the United States Military Academy in 1905.

He was a student at the Ecole de Intendence, Paris, 1924-26, Command and General Staff School, 1931-33. He married Theresa M. New, September 23, 1908.

He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1905, and advanced through the grades to Brigadier General in 1940.

He served in the Inf in Wyoming, 1905-12, in the Philippines, 1912-15, in the Mexican Punitive Expedition, 1916-17, Quartermaster, 86th Division, Camp Grant, and then sailed with 86th Division to France in World War I. He seved as the uartermaster, 32nd Division, France and Germany, 1918-19 and on duty with US Liquidation Commission, Paris, 1919. US legation, Warsaw, Poland,1920.

He was a member, War Department General Staff, Washington, DC, 1927-31. Chief of Motor Transportation, 1940-41. Commanding General, Chicago Quartermaster Depot, October 1941-44. He retired from active duty in 1944.

General Barzynski received the Mexican Punitive and World War I service medals. He was a member, Society of Automotive Engineers. He made his home in Chicago, Illinois, where he died Aug 1972.

The General was buried with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery.
