ESKRIDGE --- Richard Albert Waugh, 86, Beloit, formerly of Eskridge, Kansas, died Sunday, July 9, 2000, at home.

He was born October 2, 1913, in Eskridge. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy. He was a captain in the Navy before he retired. He lived in Beloit since 1964.

He was a member of the Naval Academy Alumni Association, Retired Officers Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

His wife, Scotty Waugh, died in 1985.

Survivors include a brother, C.B. "Barney" Waugh, Green Valley, Ariz.; and a sister, Margaret Ekberg, Big Bear City, Calif.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit. Burial will be in National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

Captain Waugh will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Beloit.
